These prompts are intended to spark connection, deepen learning, and make space for shared curiosity, joy, and a little bit of climate therapy.

Conversation Starters

When In Doubt, Start Simple:

• What are you puzzling over?

• What are you seeking?

• What gives you hope these days?

Start with Them:

• What brought you into climate work?

• What are you working on right now?

• What’s lighting you up right now in your role or organization?

• What’s been a recent win—big or small?

Dig Into the Work:

• What’s a challenge you’ve been wrestling with lately?

• What’s a tool, system, or scrappy workaround that’s saving your team right now?

• How are you approaching funding challenges in this climate?

Zoom Out, Look Ahead:

• What change would you love to see in our field in the next 5 years?

• What’s giving you hope about the future of this work?

• Who’s someone in the climate world that inspires you—and why?

Get Practical:

• What’s your go-to resource for [reporting / latest news / solutions / leadership]?

• Have you tried anything recently that didn’t work? What did you learn?

• What’s your team doing differently this year—and how’s it going?

Build Something Together:

• Want to exchange templates or tools?

• I’m curious about how you handle reporting, planning, or burnout?

• What gives you hope when things seem bleak?

• Ever wonder if your struggles are shared across the field? (Spoiler: they are.)
