5. Legal Compliance
We may disclose information as required by law or to protect our rights.
6. Data Retention and Security
6.1 Retention:
Data Retention and Deletion: We retain your personal data indefinitely for historical matching records (e.g., if someone unsubscribes and later re-subscribes, we can recognize duplicate accounts).
Deletion Request: You may request full deletion of your data by contacting us at Alexis@Climate-Hive.com with the subject line “Data Request” and specifying the request type. If you request deletion, we will remove your data from our active databases and ensure it is not used for any matching or algorithm training going forward. We may, however, retain limited data for audit or legal purposes, or as required by law.
Data Processing Halt: Upon your request to delete or cease processing your data, we will stop further data processing activities except where required by law or justified by a separate lawful basis (e.g., legal claims).
6.2 Security:
Your data is encrypted and stored securely using industry-standard practices. We employ advanced encryption and regular audits to safeguard your information.
7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA, and Other Jurisdictions)
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. Depending on your location and applicable laws (such as the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) in the European Economic Area and the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) in California), you may have the following rights:
7.1 Right to Access
You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including how and why your data is processed.
7.2 Right to Rectification
You have the right to ask us to correct any personal data that you believe is inaccurate or incomplete. Please keep your account information up to date to ensure accuracy.
7.3 Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”)
You have the right to request that we delete your personal data if it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, or if you withdraw consent (where applicable), or if the processing is otherwise unlawful. We may retain certain data for legal or audit purposes, as required by law.
7.4 Right to Restrict Processing
You can ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data under certain conditions, e.g., if you contest the accuracy of your data or if the processing is unlawful but you do not want the data erased.
7.5 Right to Data Portability
You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to request that we transfer it directly to another organization where technically feasible.
7.6 Right to Object
Where we rely on legitimate interests or perform direct marketing, you have the right to object to our processing of your personal data. We will stop processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights, and freedoms.
7.7 Right to Withdraw Consent
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before your withdrawal. If you withdraw consent, certain features of our Service may become unavailable.
7.8 Additional Rights under the CCPA (for California Residents)
7.8.1 Right to Know:
You can request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal data we collect about you, including our sources and how we share it.
7.8.2 Right to Delete:
You can request that we delete personal data we have collected about you, subject to certain exemptions (e.g., legal obligations).
7.8.3 Right to Opt Out of Sale:
We do not “sell” personal data in the way the CCPA defines “sale,” but if that changes, you will have the right to opt out.
7.8.4 Non-Discrimination:
You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of your privacy rights.
7.9 How to Exercise These Rights
To exercise any of the rights above or submit a complaint about our handling of your personal data, please contact us at:
Email: Alexis@Climate-Hive.com
We will respond to your request within the time frame required by applicable law. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity (for example, by requesting a copy of an ID) before we can fully comply with your request.
8. International Data Transfers
Our Service complies with international data protection regulations, including GDPR, for transferring data outside of your jurisdiction. We rely on legally recognized mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), to ensure your data is protected.
9. Children’s Privacy
Our Service is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware of any data collected from individuals under the age of 18, it will be promptly deleted.
10. Opt-Out Mechanisms
You may opt out of data sharing or marketing communications at any time by emailing Alexis@Climate-Hive.com, by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or updating your preferences in your account settings. The opt-out process is simple and accessible.
